Laughter Really is Good Medicine

We’ve all heard the statement “Laughter makes the best medicine.” We know that a good genuine laugh feels great and that laughter can help lift our spirits even in the bleakest moments. This article by Dr. Judith Orloff explains more about the importance of humor in our lives, and she explains why as a psychiatrist she actually prescribes laughter to uplift our energy. Without it we are deprived of the positive energy that we so truly need to live our best lives. Dr. Orloff suggests that we observe and play with children more, the experts in fun and laughter, as a way to rediscover our own inner child. She also recommends that we look at old childhood photos or experience doing activities we loved as a child to brighten our lives. Think about it. How much laughter are you keeping in your life. Do you surround yourself with people who value laughter? Today, choose to make laughter part of your everyday activities.
